Muhlenberg County Fiscal Court - Old Courthouse Renovations

The scope of this project encompasses two different facilities. First is the Muhlenberg County Courthouse facility renovation, including a complete dome replacement, which is a multi-phased project consisting of 5 phases. The second facility is a new Emergency Services Complex for the County.
Phase One - of the Courthouse Renovations was the initial demolition phase in which existing Fiscal court offices were relocated to temporary facilities nearby, including the County Attorney, County Clerk, Sheriff, Judge Executive and Coroner. The demolition of the existing dome was completed during Phase one as well as the start of the fabrication of the new dome. Programming and schematic design were also begun at this time.
Phase 2 - consisted of the complete demolition of the interior of the facility including all existing Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in their entirety. Any salvageable, original materials, including doors, trim, casings, baseboards and marble were carefully removed and stored for reuse at a later date.
Phase 3 - consisted the fabrication of the new steel trusses to replace the original wood trusses in the main portion of the structure.
Phase 3A - involved complete repairs to the exterior of the structure including masonry repairs, new windows, new roofing, replacement of all existing cornices and gutters, as well as repair and replacement of existing limestone elements and installation of the newly fabricated trusses. The newly fabricated dome structure was installed during this phase as well.
Phase 4 - will consist of the complete renovation of the interior of the facility, reuse of all salvaged materials and installation of the new spaces to meet the programming requirements of the fiscal courts. Once completed the courthouse will house the County Clerk, Sheriff, Judge Executive, County attorney and PVA offices.
Phase 5 - will complete the repairs and redesign of the existing site to include new parking areas, walkways, exterior lighting and new steps & ramps so as to provide a more easily accessible and inviting facility.
